Briefly, I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t been keeping the blog up to date. Much of it is things that wouldn’t work so well on the blog. Much as things like Leonardo da Vinci: The Mechanics of Genius is a wonderful exhibition, it’s only on for a few months and isn’t likely to travel far. But, if it does, go and see it.
So, what am I keeping busy with?
Each week, I’m doing 2-4 washes; clothes, towels, bedding, sofa throws, etc. I’m also doing food shopping 2-4 times a week and a delivery shop once a month or so.
While every week is typical, they’re also unique. This week (April 17th) I’m going to three exhibitions, Artists and Empire at the Tate, John Dee (16th Century Physician, Spy, Alchemist) at the Royal College of Physicians and Delacroix at the National Gallery. I’m going to a talk by a reformed drug smuggler, seeing friends for a drink, visiting my sister and doing some housework.
As you can see, there’s no room for work.
Visiting all of the exhibitions can get very expensive very quickly. So, I became a friend of the British Museum which gives me free entry to all exhibitions, 10% of in the store and use of the members’ room. Great value for £60 a year. I also bought a National Arts Pass for £47 a year which gives me access to special exhibitions at things like the National Gallery for half price; it’s already saved me £24 in 4 months. I’m going to get full value out of both of them.
Yes, I do exercise primarily walking around the Roxeth Recreation Ground the circuit around the park is .6 mile so 6 circuits are about 3.5 miles. When I’m not out and about I aim to do 6-8 circuits a day. Sometimes I’m by myself and sometimes one of the other residents comes with me.
When the weather is bad like last Friday, I’ve just started doing Leslie Sansome’s walk at Home. She is annoyingly perky and if I ever met her in real life, I’d have to walk away before I slapped her but she’s very good at what she does.
There are a couple of things that I’m not currently doing, Volunteering and Classes.
I’ve done a couple of days training for 1 charity and a couple of days work for another. I’ve signed up to do some more days over the next 3 months so we’ll see how that goes.
Classes, I haven’t seen any that really grabbed me. I was looking to do some cookery, maybe a language course and an art appreciation / history course. In all honesty, I don’t want to do the work. That will probably change over the next couple of months.
Hope everything is going well for you all.
