My shower died 😩

As part of the kitchen remodel, we needed to move the hot and cold water pipes. In doing that, we found that the hot water tank didn’t have an isolation valve. This mean that the hot water needed to be drained, which took forever. The pipes were then moved and the hot water tand refilled. The good thing about this was that I found out that I was heating the water with expensive day time electricty rather than the cheaper night time. So, i switched that over and it should help with the bills.

On Saturday, I go to take a shower and no water comes out. Because of the low water pressure in the building, I have a power shower that takes a feed from both the cold and hot water tanks mixes it together and use a pump to throw the water at you with considerable  force.

We (my newphew) messes about with it, calls the manufacturer’s help line and spends half of the morning trying to get it going. Nothing works. It seems like there’s air in the shower unit that we can’t get out of it. On Monday when the help desk is working again, he’ll give them a call again to see if we can get it working.

Worst case, I’m going to have to buy a new shower, which means that we’ll need to drain the hot water tank again.

On the bright side, the kitchen is starting to look good.

So far now, I’m going to have to pretend to be French aka not washing and not caring about personal hygiene 😏

  1. Hi Chris,  Oh no, re: the shower!  Sounds all is going to work out in your favor though. Good luck with getting everything working right with pipes/water/hot & cold.  Hopefully you end up with a lower electrical bill as you say. Nice that you have your nephew close by to help. How are the cats doing?  I hope they have gotten all settled in to their new home.

I’m continuing with my cleaning. About to drag a nice vinyl ottoman (kind of looks like leather!) out onto the sidewalk for the taking. It’s gotten scratched and I don’t need it (except am using it to PILE UP all the clothes I don’t know where to put!)

I bent down to grab a pair of shoes from under a cabinet in my bedroom an hour ago and found the MOST GROSS big brown spot. I did not spill anything.  Looks like the carpet has been burned and there’s a deep indentation. Looks both burnt and wet. They’ve been doing renovations below me this past month.  My guess is that leakage from the pipes in ceiling below me , though it looks like the damage in my bedroom was a burn.  I don’t smoke and Joe (who I’ve not seen in 2 months doesn’t smoke).  My neighbor looked at it and wondered if it is “black mold”.  IT IS SOOOOO GROSS LOOKING. i hate to sleep in my room tonight.  IT IS A NEW SPOT OF GOOK.  I can’t prove it was not there, but there are no spills around it and it is UNDER a cabinet about 2″ from the edge of cabinet. STRANGEST THING I’ve ever seen happen with a carpet. Hopefully they will get me NEW carpet now and PAY FOR IT!!! YAYYYY! 🙂  But I still have a ton of cleaning to do to make my place orderly enought to replace the carpet.

Please send daimoku! I still need to work on my consistency but I’m sending NMRK to you as often as I can! 🙂 Take care. Cheers, MEgan
